Commissioner Doug Smith

Doug Smith is the Martin County Commissioner for District 1.  He  has been a  Commissioner since  November  2000  and  has  been Chairman of  the  Board  of  County  Commissioners in 2003-04, 2007-08, and 2009-10.  He currently is First Vice President of the Florida Association of Counties Board.

Commissioner Smith is a member of the Metropolitan Planning Organization, Treasure Coast Council of Local Governments, Business Development Board, Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council, Indian River Lagoon/National Estuary Advisory Committee, Tourist Development Council, Children's Services Council of Martin County, and Treasure Coast Campus Advisory Board for Florida Atlantic University.  Commissioner Smith is also a board member of the Maritime & Classic Boat Museum, Education Foundation of Martin County, and past member of Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute Foundation, Environmental Studies Council, and the Historical Society.

Commissioner Doug Smith has served as a statutory designee on the Children’s Services Council of Martin County since 11/19/2008 because of his role as Member of the Martin County Board of County Commissioners.
