Summary: The DOH-Martin County Preventive Dental Program provides preventative oral health care and education by a dental hygienist to children in early learning centers and in grades 2, 3, and 5. Children in participating early learning centers receive oral health care screenings and benefit from a toothbrush program. Elementary school-age children receive oral health care screenings, an application of dental sealants, and an oral hygiene care kit with instruction. Children who are experiencing urgent oral health care concerns are referred to an oral health care provider in Martin County for treatment.
