As the assistant regional general counsel for the state of Florida Department of Children and Families’ Southeast Region, Laurel E. Hopper handles all general civil law matters for the four-county area, excluding child abuse and Chapter 39 cases.

A graduate from Bowling Green State University with a law degree from the University of Toledo’s College of Law, Ms. Hopper has worked with DCF for 25 years. Previously, she served as assistant county attorney for Palm Beach County, DCF Chief Legal Counsel for Circuits 15 and 19 and the DCF Institution Counsel in Gainesville.

A Martin County resident since 1993, Ms. Hopper has previously served on the Children’s Services Council of Martin County from 1998 to 2007.

Ms. Hopper has served as a statutory designee on the Children’s Services Council of Martin County since January 2013 as a designee of the Circuit  Administrator of Circuit 19 of the Florida Department of Children and Families.
