Dancing Around Martin – MC Healthy Start Coalition

Cheree, Manager of Community Engagement, is Dancing Around Martin to highlight all of the organizations CSC funds with tax payer dollars to raise awareness of programs available right here in our backyard.

Cheree met with CEO of Martin County Healthy Start Coalition, Sam Suffich, an organization that offers support and education to pregnant women, infants, and their families. All of MC Healthy Starts services are confidential, free of charge, and not income-based.

CSCMC proudly funds multiple programs that start as early as conception. MC Healthy Start provides one-on-one to assist mothers throughout their pregnancy and after birth of their babies. The care coordinator can help with newborn care, childbirth education, breastfeeding education and support, parenting education and support, and tobacco cessation. Their Healthy Start program is just one way they improve the lives of children and the family unit here in Martin.

It’s not all about the mothers here either. They’ve started the David Cardno Father & Child Resource Center. This center provides valuable support to encourage men to become more involved and committed fathers by offering parenting classes, legal assistance for those separated from their children, and parenting workshops to other agencies.

They understand that it takes a village to create the world where strong families are a priority. They lead by example and know the importance of families first. MC Healthy Start has been a recipient of CSCMC’s Champions for Children award. Thank you for all you do in our community with our children and families.

September 25th, 2021, Cheree will be taking the Starstruck stage with her alumni partner Rachel Terlizzi, to support and promote Martin County Healthy Start Coalition, for their Dancing with the Martin Stars event.
